IRRIGATION FARMERS SOLICIT SUPPORT FROM GOVERNMENT.

The association of Irrigation Farmers in Gwallameji and neighbouring communities has called on Government at all levels to provided adequate support to the farmers which would serve as a means of reducing poverty rate in the community and the entire nation.

In an interview with the chairman of irrigation farmers, Alhaji Saleh Musa said if the government can provide all the necessary tools for the farmers, it would enhance production of food items and vegetables.

Alhaji Saleh decried the high cost of machines and equipments used for the farming,calling on government to reduce the cost of things in other to enable farmers purchase and have the necessary farming implements to continue with the irrigation farming.

He stressed that many farmers are incapacitated in purchasing some of the equipments needed for the irrigation farming.

Speaking with one of the irrigation farmers, Mallam kabiru who farms onions, tomato and pepper,expressed his dismay over the negligence of government over the agricultural sector,most especially irrigation farmers who have to put extra efforts to cultivate farm product.
